ScrapIQ LLC ("ScrapIQ," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use the ScrapIQ mobile application, the ScrapIQ website (including scrapiq.app), and related support services (collectively, the "Services").
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you use ScrapIQ.
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, we may receive your name, email address, account identifier, authentication status, and related profile information. Login credentials may be handled by our authentication provider. ScrapIQ does not receive or store your full password when authentication is handled by that provider.
Price sheets and recycling-yard information
When you photograph or upload a recycling-yard price sheet or price board, we may collect:
- The image or file you provide;
- Yard names, locations, addresses, and other yard information;
- Material names, categories, units, and prices;
- Text and data extracted from the image;
- Corrections, approvals, material matches, and yard-specific terminology you provide; and
- Related dates, notes, and processing information.
ScrapIQ uses optical character recognition and other automated processing to extract information from images. Automated results may be incomplete or inaccurate, so you should review extracted information before relying on it.
Loads, sales, and receipts
When you plan a load or record a sale, we may collect:
- Materials, estimated or actual weights, quantities, and pricing units;
- Estimated values, actual prices, deductions, and total amounts paid;
- Recycling-yard details and transaction dates;
- Receipt photographs or uploaded receipt files;
- Text and transaction details extracted from receipts;
- Notes, corrections, sale history, and receipt-processing status; and
- Other information you choose to include in a record or image.
Receipts and price sheets may contain personal or sensitive information. Please avoid uploading information that is not needed to use ScrapIQ, and redact unnecessary information when practical.
Camera, photos, and files
With your permission, ScrapIQ may access your device camera to take a photograph or your device's photo or file selection tools so you can choose an image or document to upload. ScrapIQ uses that access to provide the feature you requested. Device permissions can be managed through your device settings.
Location-related information
We may process locations that you enter or that are contained in yard or transaction records, such as a recycling-yard address. If ScrapIQ offers a feature that uses your device's location, we will request the appropriate device permission and use that information to provide the location-based feature. You can deny or revoke device-location permission through your device settings, although some location-based features may then be unavailable.
Support communications and diagnostic information
When you contact us or submit a support or bug report, we may collect your contact information, message, attachments, and any information you include. If supplied through the app or support form, diagnostic information may include the app version, build number, device type, operating-system version, current screen or feature, timestamps, network status, and technical error details.
Device, log, and usage information
We and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information needed to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the Services. This may include Internet Protocol (IP) address, device and operating-system information, app version, request timestamps, authentication events, crash or error details, and interactions with features.
Website technologies
Our website may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies that are necessary for login, security, preferences, and basic operation. If we introduce nonessential analytics or advertising technologies, we will update this policy and provide any legally required choices before using them.
Purchase information
If ScrapIQ offers paid features through an app store or another payment provider, that provider processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We may receive limited purchase information, such as subscription status, product purchased, transaction identifier, and renewal or expiration information. We do not receive your complete payment-card number from an app store purchase.
2. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- Create, authenticate, secure, and maintain accounts;
- Provide and synchronize ScrapIQ features;
- Import and organize price-sheet information;
- Process receipt images and create sale records;
- Match recycling-yard wording to ScrapIQ materials;
- Calculate load estimates and display sales history;
- Compare prices and payment history available to your account;
- Respond to questions, support requests, and bug reports;
- Diagnose errors, maintain performance, and improve reliability;
- Prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents;
- Communicate service, security, account, and policy updates;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
- Develop and improve ScrapIQ's features and user experience.
We will not use information for materially different purposes without providing notice and obtaining consent when required by law.
3. How We Disclose Information
Service providers
We may provide information to companies that perform services for us, such as authentication, cloud hosting, database storage, object or image storage, OCR or document processing, error monitoring, customer support, email delivery, and payment processing. These providers receive information only as needed to perform services for ScrapIQ and are subject to applicable contractual or legal obligations.
At your direction
We may disclose information when you direct us to export, send, or share it, or when you connect ScrapIQ to another service.
Legal, safety, and security reasons
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect the rights, safety, and security of users, ScrapIQ, or others; investigate fraud or abuse; or enforce our agreements.
Business transfers
If ScrapIQ is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of its business or assets, information may be disclosed as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
Aggregated or de-identified information
We may use or disclose information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an individual. We will not attempt to re-identify it except as permitted by law to test whether our de-identification methods are effective.
4. No Sale of Personal Information or Targeted Advertising
ScrapIQ does not sell or rent personal information. ScrapIQ does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use receipt or price-sheet information to target third-party advertisements.
If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law before the change takes effect.
5. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Services, protecting security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations.
- Account information and user content: Generally retained while your account remains active or until you delete the content or request account deletion.
- Price sheets, receipts, loads, and sales records: Generally retained until you delete them or delete your account, subject to limited legal or security exceptions.
- Temporary processing files: Images, upload artifacts, and processing records that are no longer needed may be removed through routine cleanup processes.
- Support records and technical logs: Generally retained for up to 12 months after the support matter or logged event, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
- Deleted account information: Information will be removed from active systems within 30 days after a verified account-deletion request is completed. Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 additional days before being overwritten or deleted.
- Legally required records: Certain transaction, tax, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records may be retained longer when required or permitted by law.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it. Retention periods may vary when necessary to investigate abuse, protect the Services, comply with a legal hold, or establish or defend legal claims.
6. Your Choices and Privacy Rights
Review and correction
ScrapIQ may allow you to review or correct account details, extracted price-sheet data, sale records, and other information within the app. You may also contact us to request assistance.
Camera, photo, file, and location permissions
You can grant or revoke device permissions through your device settings. Revoking permission does not delete information previously uploaded to ScrapIQ.
Communications
You may opt out of nonessential promotional emails by using the unsubscribe method in the message. We may still send important service, security, transaction, and account communications.
Account and data deletion
You may request deletion of your ScrapIQ account and associated data:
- From within the app using the account-deletion option in account settings; or
- Through the account-deletion request page on the ScrapIQ website.
We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and protect your account before completing a request. Deleting the app from your device does not delete your ScrapIQ account. Before deleting your account, export any records you want to keep. Subject to limited legal, fraud-prevention, and security exceptions, account deletion permanently removes or de-identifies information associated with the account as described in Section 5.
Rights provided by law
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal information; obtain information about how personal information is used or disclosed; withdraw consent; restrict or object to certain processing; or appeal our response to a request.
To exercise a privacy right, email privacy@scrapiq.app with the subject line Privacy Request. We may need to verify your identity. Authorized agents may submit requests when permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Because ScrapIQ does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no need to opt out of those practices.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and protections for information transmitted between the app and our servers. No security method or electronic storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for protecting access to your device and account and for notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.
8. Children's Privacy
ScrapIQ is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without legally sufficient authorization, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information may contact us at privacy@scrapiq.app.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
The Services may contain links to recycling yards, app stores, websites, or services operated by others. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. ScrapIQ is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
10. Processing in the United States
ScrapIQ is based in the United States. If you use the Services from another country, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as ScrapIQ changes or as required by law. We will post the updated policy and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects your privacy rights, we will provide additional notice when required.
